[Sousei's pretty easy to find. After all of that chaos, he's still out and about, mostly hanging on the fringes to try to keep an eye on everyone.

He's more Dad than he wants to admit to in times like these, but after that insanity...

He can't just leave and let them all fend for themselves.

[ Sousei is much easier to find than certain other people he was trying to find earlier!! It's not until the next day that Hikage seeks him out, largely because he'd spent the greater part of the day before tending to Steph.

It's also partially because telling people "thank you" is not one of his favorite things to do. ]

[Hikage also gets the quiet, simple MANLY NOD in greeting, gasp.... it's fine.]

Is there something I can do for you, Hikage?

[He doesn't really think Hikage owes him any thanks, so he's just mostly curious here...]

No... not really. Just... [ he scratches the back of his head, glancing away. ] I wanted to thank you for the help. I owe you.

[ this feels important, for some reason. he feels like he's done something like this before, but... not quite. ]

You don't owe me for your partner's life and well-being, Hikage. I would like to get through this with as few casualties as possible.

I am glad she is doing as well as can be expected, considering the circumstances.

Yeah. She's really stubborn. I doubt it'll even set her back.

[ he says with a sort of chagrin. it might be better for her health if she were a little less stubborn... ]

Well, we spend a lot of time together. It would be weirder if I didn't know much about her.

[ he puts a hand on his hip, inwardly thankful the awkward part of this conversation is over. ]

[He spends plenty of time with Jae-ha and still gets irritated by him.

(Though he supposes he knows plenty more about him than expected, too.)]

Well, it is for the better that there are partners here that get along well, I believe.

You don't like Jae-ha?

[ he doesn't sound surprised by this, exactly. ]

[Okay so in all honesty he can't...say...he doesn't like Jae-ha...]

... He is irritating to the extreme.

[He can, however, say that.]

[ hmmmm. Hikage contemplates that for a moment. ]

You're probably right. I haven't talked to him that much.

That is probably for the better. I am certain he would irritate a personality like yours just as badly.

I think you do not have a high tolerance for nonsense.

[ that is probably the truest thing that can be said about Hikage. ]

... I think Jae-ha is more capable than he looks. He's just acting that way so that people don't take him too seriously. It's a strategy. He's probably a good partner, in the end.

Yes, I'm aware of that.

[He knows that much.]

I did not say he was a poor partner by any means.

[Just that he is annoying. Which. He is.]
