[It's actually an accident, really. Sousei's trying to avoid people (he doesn't really want to talk about his impending execution, thanks), and it's in doing so that he ends up looping back around towards the ballroom doors.

He runs into someone anyway.

Sousei...sighs (finally, some emotion), brow furrowed.]

There is absolutely no way to avoid people in this wretched place, is there...?

[ he's rattling those doors at the moment, thank you, but they're not opening even without the sign. He doesn't know what he expected!! Sousei's appearance distracts him, and his comment draws a sour expression out onto his face. ]

Excuse me for standing here and minding my own business. Is there a problem?

[Impending execution aside...?]

... An ironic thing to ask considering the situation today.

[That's said more ruefully than anything, though, his breath escaping him in a soft sigh.]

[ Hikage rests his hand on the doors, giving them one final push; unsurprisingly, they don't yield, and so, he turns around, resting his back against them for the time being. Unfortunately, they don't comedically collapse inwards the moment he stops trying. ]

If you want to avoid people, just go to your room.

[... Hm yes, good plan. His eyes are also on the doors; it's almost disappointing that they don't open.]

I do not consider myself a particularly sentimental or superstitious man, but I still have little desire to immediately return to the room of the deceased.

[ he wasn't paying that much attention to the pairings, apparently. That means they were partners, right? ]

... Sorry. [ he doesn't meet Sousei's eyes as he speaks. ] That means you're next, doesn't it?

[Everyone is on edge here, honestly... he gets it. It was a shitty day for everyone.]

And yes, presumably, according to the "rules" they have given us. We will see what is to come of that later, it would seem.

[ hmm. Hikage glances back up at him now, thoughtful. He's not much for comforting, and Sousei doesn't seem interested in apologies, so he does away with that. ]

Are you going back to your room tonight?

[He's not that superstitious, but. Oh well.]

I simply do not intend on doing so right away. It... does not feel entirely right.

We know you're in danger. We just don't know what kind of danger... You probably shouldn't stay alone for too long.

If it is something I can cut with my sword, then I will be fine. If it is not, then being with someone else will not help me or them.
